Spring House Tavern

Spring House Tavern

It took several weeks to remove everything that the city had left in the building including the pumps.  Bob Perry and Lynn Thompson started working on creating an 18th century style tavern. We took the cabinets that were in the building and placed them in the back to use as a bar and added a wall with a tavern gate.  The floor was concrete, so David McGhee gave us his crew to lay paving brick to cover the floor. The bricks were donated by Tile Center in Augusta. American Concrete donated concrete to fix the outside area. Joe Walker built the outdoor fireplace and ??? built the beehive oven. The roof was added to this area and then Lynn Thompson and Paula Rogers finished the floor with more paving bricks.  Since that time, we have reroofed the tavern and added electricity inside and out so we can use it for events. The building is ¾ below ground that makes it cool in the hot weather.
