A Day to Remember
For 30 years, the Living History Park has brought our colonial past (from 1735 to 1785) come to life through demonstrations and living exhibits. Reenactors will be available for demonstrations and to answer questions throughout the park. Play colonial games, sing songs, and sample baked goods! Try your hand at colonial dancing or see if you are fit to join the militia! Featured attractions will include apothecary skills, pottery, weaving and spinning, candle making, butter churning, musket firing demonstrations, gunsmithing, blacksmithing, needlework, woodworking, and smoking/curing meat. Be sure to stop by and visit with the Indian traders, the baker, potter, backwoodsmen, milliner, tavern keeper, and the sutlers on Sutlers Row. Stop in to the Village Mercantile and New Windsor Cabinet shop to see the lathe that was used in the movie The Patriot.
What to Expect
We are always adding new experiences to our program. No two events are the same.
Several special guests from the colonial era will be there with our village regulars. The ever popular, rat catcher, will be roaming the park. Be sure to watch one of the mesmerizing performances by Peter Gardiner, the 18th Century Conjurer. Check the event brochure to see what special guests will be there.
Trades Faire
The Colonial Trades Fair features local and regional artists who demonstrate their crafts and have items available for sale.
Food & Drink
When you get hungry, The North Augusta High School Culinary Students will be selling lunch, snacks, and refreshments at the Farmers Barn next to the Red Barn. You can also find contemporary versions of 18th century colonists’ favorite confections and a few more modern desserts at The Sweet Shoppe.
