Our colonial barn is an 18th century style barn, but you wouldn’t have seen a barn like this in South Carolina during colonial times. The temperate weather made it unnecessary but the towns in the north would have required one. Our barn is a copy of a New England barn with 25-foot ceilings. We use this building for many events like wedding receptions, dances, and large parties. The income generated from these rentals helps fund new projects and the upkeep of the rest of the park. The stone steps leading up to the barn were originally part of the Augusta canal. The chandelier was handmade by our very own blacksmiths. It spans 4 feet. We’ve modernized the chandelier with electricity but it would have had candles and been lowered down to light it. The hearthstone for the fireplace was found on the property. It was originally a curbstone from North Augusta.
